How they workEdit
It’s time for The Showdowns and the Artists next chance to convince their coach they have what it takes.
Before the Artists take to the stage, each Coach will enlist a Mentor to help guide their nine successful Artists through the Showdown phase. In a world first, the Mentor will listen to the Artist “blind”. They will not have seen their original audition nor their Battle performance and will not see them in the recording studio until they have heard them in a run through of the song they have chosen to impress their coach.
A few days after the studio mentoring session, Coach and Mentor will come together on stage with each Artist to work through their on-stage performance. This is the first time the Artists will be able to size up their competition and the audience has a window into their reactions.
Each sensational Showdown episode will see three Artists on each team perform head-to-head for a place in the Live Finals. Their Coach must then decide who from their three will progress to the next stage of the competition. One Artist will go straight through to The Finals, one will get a second chance in the Sing-Offs and the other will go home.
The final Showdown episode will see the three runners up on each Team take to the stage in the Sing-Offs when each coach must decide who gets that coveted final spot on their team.
That’s when their coach will reveal the biggest surprise in The Voice Australia history.
